Oliver
Cowmeadow is the school principal. He first
began studying nutrition in 1980 and embarked upon
an intensive study of Oriental medicine in London,
America and Europe specialising in macrobiotics
and shiatsu. Oliver moved to Cornwall in 1984 and
later to Devon to start practising and teaching,
and in 1985 set up the Devon
School of Shiatsu, which has now
trained many successful shiatsu practitioners.
In
the 1990's he studied the emotional side of healing
with courses in psychotherapy, rebirthing, past
life healing and counselling, which he has now integrated
with his use of Oriental medicine.
Oliver
has two teenage children, raised from birth using
macrobiotic principles and has written five books
on nutrition, cooking and shiatsu (some of which
are for sale - please see the Books
to Buy Page).

| Marijke
De Coninck
has taught yoga, macrobiotics, Eastern Philosophy
and Diagnosis for the last 25 years! She has raised
four children using natural health principles and
her daughter Tine has joined her in teaching cooking
and food energetics in Belgium and England. She is
a sought after counsellor. In her lessons and consultations
she integrates the physical, emotionsal, mental and
spiritual aspects and brings a wealth of experience
and insight to her classes. |

| Tine
Tomme studies psychology at the University of
Ghent in Belgium. She was raised in a macrobiotic
family and was fascinated by cooking and healthy eating.
Together with her partner Kevin, they run their own
catering company in Belgium and and has a 2 year old son. Tine regularly teaches in the
Antwerp East West Centre, in Ghent, as well as the
Netherlands. She is a very enthusiastic cook and teacher
and her classes are very popular. |

| Mary
Guyon became interested in diet in the early 80's,
to help heal health problems within her family. She
then studied widely in Britain and Switzerland, including
with Aveline Kushi. Since moving to Devon in 2000
she has been giving individual cooking tuition in
her home, and is the main resident cookery teacher
at the school. |

| Kevin
Storms studied cookery at the International
Cooking School in Belgium, and is a very experienced
caterer preparing delicious food for leading centres
in Belgium, Switzerland and England. He has a wealth
of knowledge on cooking which he passes on in his
classes. |

| Jean Netherway MRSS(T), has had a long term interest in nutrition, working with Weight Watchers for 4 years and has been incorporating Macrobiotics into her daily life since 1992. Jean teaches the Food Energetics curriculum on the Devon School of Shiatsu Foundation course and on the Fundamentals and Looking After Your Health courses. |

Iso Barnden has worked for a number of years as an administrator for various charities. A language graduate, she initially worked as a teacher and translator, but has also been a traveller and a carpenter.
Iso’s interest in complementary therapies grows constantly, and supporting students and teachers at the school in the Devon countryside provides the perfect work setting for her. |

Wendy Morrison looks after our Sales and Marketing. She worked in the IT Industry for 15 years prior to joining us. She is also a qualified traditional acupuncturist practicing in Paignton and Buckfastleigh.
